Was bedeutet Yoga für Dich?
Meistens zumindest.
Was bedeutet Spiritualität für dich?
Was gibt dir Kraft?
Was tut speziell deinem Körper gut?
Wo stehst du - was kommt?
*Eva Kaczor is an astounding person, as far as I am concerned. She has gone through countless trainings in the context of the holistic movement, in my opinion has a gift for healing - I am not quite sure if she herself is aware of it - while her home is the world of art and techno. For me it is absolutely impressive how one person can reconcile so many divisive worlds. No matter if an exciting event in the art world, the best club in town or a unique healing session, it´s impossible to imagine the scene without Eva. I love how she lives her spirituality, for in everything she does she has feeling for soul, body and mind. I am so happy that my urban spiritual role model was willing to answer a few questions for YOGATONIC.
How did you become acquainted with Yoga, art and techno?
Let me start with what came first in my (Berlin based) life: techno.
The greatest level of connectedness I can experience is in fact on the dance floor. Thanks to Berghain, it became possible to go dancing in the afternoon several years ago - ever since then I quit going dancing at night since that´s the time when I sleep.
Art entered my life through starting my own online magazine, ARTberlin.de with which I gave a platform to the art scene in Berlin. In this way, I became one of the first art blogs besides the established art magazines four years ago. Through ARTberlin I put the spotlight on the characters of the art world as well as the most exciting places and art events in Berlin: who are the artists, who are the buyers, what are they like, how do artists live connectedness?
And then there was Yoga. At first, I approached Yoga from a sporty angle and hurt my body to no small degree. Until I could no longer do this and my Yoga path took a new direction. A short while after that, I went to NYC and did an incredible Yoga teacher training. Ever since then, I have taught every single day and my life took a completely new turn thanks to that.
Art, Yoga, techno, I live and love all three: To me, music is art, art is connectedness and Yoga unifies both.
What does Yoga mean to you?
To me, Yoga is keeping the connection to your body, purifying it, strengthening in order to become able to inhabit it with lots of space and without pain.
Secondly, Yoga has taught me to really address the issues of my soul. Thanks to Yoga, the first time in my life I was able to ask the question "What is a soul, actually?" "Why is soul everything? I begin to suspect: If you feel your soul, you rest within yourself and nothing can go wrong because you´re in love.
And, thirdly, Yoga of course means teaching to me. Through teaching Yoga I am enabled to help people explore their own potential more comprehensively, to support them in living a more healthy, whole life. And I get so much love back. Sometimes I am completely busy with myself when I come into a Yoga lesson - until the first OM. In this moment, my focus shifts, away from myself to the energy in the room, to my students, to touching people. When I leave a class I am healthy, happy, and open. That is, most of the times at least.
What does spirituality mean to you? How do you reconcile spirituality with your life style?
To me, the word spirituality is an attitude. An attitude towards life as well as toward the question HOW we live. I have realised that I can do the most wonderful things like travel, start my own business and in live in a self-determined way etc. but whenever I try to control things too strongly with my head I miss out on what´s most important - magic.
Spirituality for me is always magic of some sort. There are moments in life which are magical - when I meet somebody, look him in the eye and know that this person is feeling the same right now which is the connection with everything a person is. A connection to our heart, to our problems, our worries, and the moments we reach for a higher level. This is what I live for, for which I practice, for which I try to cultivate openness and peace within myself. Each and every day, with many moments when I just want to bang my head against a wall. I have grown more sensitive in this process. I understand other people without words and am able to give something to them, also without words. This is what spirituality is for me.
Living spiritually in a contemporary way is quite easy and difficult at the same time - all those who have started to listen to their hearts can confirm this. You begin to attract people who share this attitude. After a while, your circle of friends is made up of people with whom who go partying wildly the one week just to sit in silence in an Ashram in Mexico during the nest. And in between times, you go nuts ;-)
Do you have a morning routine and if so, what does it look like?
I am a big fan of morning routines. After getting out of bed I make myself a Matcha; during the summer I put green leaves and probiotics into my smoothie. During winter, I like to make warm oatmeal with Ghee or coconut fat and superfoods. Afterwards I will sweat on my Yoga mat for 7 minutes (High Intensity Training); next comes an ab-workout I have developed myself to cure myself from pains in the lower back. After that, I practice Pranayama to purify my body and have an easier time meditating. I meditate for 10 minutes and bless the day. This takes 45 minutes, all in all, sometimes only 30 minutes when I have to get going quickly. After having used a dry brush and taken a cold shower I am ready to start the day.
When you feel everything goes wrong, how do you keep your center? How do you find strength?
I would say that I enter silence and connect to my soul but the truth is that quite often I am too restless for it. Nature is a big help to me. I go to the park and run up the little hill there until I have grown somewhat calmer. Dancing as well is a form of meditation for me.
Furthermore it helps a lot to meet my best friend and spiritual teacher. He provides me with lots of knowledge and healing.
Sometimes I take the road of energy-medicine like acupuncture or body work like fasciae release or shamanism. Actually, I am always working on all levels, try to make sure that my head is content, bring release to my soul through great connections and calm my mind through silence.
What is particularly good for your body?
Warmth of any shape which includes warm food. And this isn´t all that simple for me because I don´t like to cook that much. I go to the vapour bath a lot and or spontaneously book a ticket to South-America, Bali or Mexico if I feel the urge.
Where are you now - what is ahead?
I will keep learning about meditation, healing and energy-work. This winter, I am going to Mexico to meet great meditation teachers. Furthermore, I will do a training in a high form of energy-healing and am involved in developing a beautiful new place for workouts. Together with my boyfriend, I also will expand YOGA MEETS ART and restructure ARTberlin.de.
Thank you so much!
